8 positives of an aquarium in the house

Many people think of the fish in the aquarium as just pets, nothing more. However, such a water world, in fact, has many advantages for all household members. First, it’s just beautiful. Secondly, looking after your aquarium and looking at the fish can be a very rewarding experience. You will have the opportunity not only to observe the underwater fauna and flora, but also to feel how beneficial the fish are to the atmosphere of your home, making it more calm and harmonious.

And this is a scientific fact! Numerous studies have shown that contemplating fish has a significant therapeutic effect in helping to lower blood pressure. Try observing your pets for 10-15 minutes a day, and you will feel relaxation and inner peace. By the way, any pet has such a healing effect, not just fish. According to experts, pets reduce the risk of heart attacks in their owner by 3-5%. However, do not rush to immediately run to the pet store for an aquarium: the fish may seem like unpretentious pets to you, but you must take care of them and their habitat.

Try observing your pets for 10-15 minutes a day, and you will feel relaxation and inner peace. By the way, any pet has such a healing effect, not just fish. However, do not rush to immediately run to the pet store for an aquarium: the fish may seem like unpretentious pets to you, but you must take care of them and their habitat.

2. Observing life in the aquarium lowers blood pressure

Research has shown that children diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) become calmer by watching fish in an aquarium. It is believed that the feeling of peace that arises when contemplating the underwater world in miniature can distract children from their usual hyperactive actions.

3. Watching fish can help relieve toothache

Because fish tanks help reduce stress, they are often seen in medical and dental offices in particular. Research has been carried out in this area, and they have shown that patients who contemplated the fish before meeting with the dentist were practically not nervous and needed less pain relievers.

4. Observing aquarium life helps people with Alzheimer’s

In 2018, a study from Purdue University, Indiana, actually proved that colorful fish tanks can help Alzheimer’s patients and correct their behavior and eating habits. A total of 60 people from three different nursing homes were examined, and the results showed that patients became calmer and more relaxed, and behavioral patterns such as screaming and physical aggression were significantly weakened.

5. Having aquariums teaches responsibility

And this is necessary not only for children, but also for adults. Proper care and maintenance of an aquarium requires additional knowledge, time and effort, not to mention discipline and organization. Fish aquariums can also help everyone in the household learn to take care of their pets responsibly. However, if you decide to give your children fish, first check how ready they are for additional household chores and whether they can take on such responsibility.

6. An in-house aquarium makes living space more pleasant and inviting

As mentioned, fish tanks are great for relieving stress and creating a sense of calmness. If you want to “invite” this positive energy into your home, then consider how and where you can set up the aquarium. In addition, the rules of feng shui in every possible way welcome the presence of it in a residential area.

7. You can reuse your aquarium water

You can reuse the water after changing part or all of it in the aquarium, for example, for watering indoor flowers or your garden. Fish waste is great for providing your plants with additional nutrients. It will only benefit them!

8. You can keep your fish almost anywhere

If you are renting a living space, your landlord may not allow pets: cats, dogs, rodents, birds. Or you simply don’t have a place to get a bigger animal. Fortunately, this does not apply to fish. Calculate your space yourself: for example, if you want goldfish, you need an aquarium with a volume of at least 75 liters. And if you plan to have fish such as a cockerel (Siamese fighting fish), a 10-liter aquarium is enough (although a 20-liter one is still preferable).
